About Our Guild......

Foothills Writers Guild is a group of people from the foothills region of South Carolina who promote the art of writing in three primary ways:

1) Monthly Meetings - 7:30 pm at Anderson University on the third Tuesday, September through May.  The December meeting will be a Christmas party at a member's house.  The month of the annual Workshop will the meeting for that particular month.

2) Two Creative Writing, Juried Competitions among our members each year.  Categories include poetry, essaays, and short fiction, which are judged by published writers and creative writing professors from area colleges.  First place winning entries are published in our yearbook.

3) Outreach to the Literary Community through our annual workshop and through financial awards to college students.  Students are given a generous discount in workshop fees.  Two Anderson Univesity writing students will receive cash awards each year, based on recommendations of the English faculty.

Important upcoming Events & Dates.....

Feb 28, 2009 - All 20th Annual Writers Workshop early registration postmark deadline to qualify for the early registration discount.  All manuscript evaluation submissions must be postmarked by this date.

Mar 16, 2009 - 20th Annual Writers Workshop registration postmark deadline.

Mar 19, 2009 - Last day to obtain a refund for the 20th Annual Writers Workshop.

Mar 27 & 28, 2009 - Our 20th Annual Writers Workshop will serve as our monthly meeting and will be held at Anderson University Friday evening and Saturday.  Spring Competition entries are due.  Please click on the "Competition" link above for guidelines and categories.  Please click on the "Writers Workshop - 2009" link above for all current information.

Apr 21, 2009 - Our monthly meeting will be held at Anderson University, 7:30 pm in Watkins Teaching Center across from the Library.  Program information will be posted here when confirmed.

May 19, 2009 -  Our monthly meeting will be held at Anderson University, 7:30 pm in Watkins Teaching Center across from the Library.  Winners of our Spring Competition will be announced and first place winners will read their winning entries.
